Rally for the Rescues-Scout

Scout

Scout is a yearling buckskin filly, QH who was rescued by Safe Harbor Equine and Livestock Sanctuary just 2 months ago. In January, the rescue received complaints of animal neglect and began working with law enforcement to investigate. A foal on the property did not survive but luckily Scout along with 2 other horses went to rescue for food, warmth, safety and recovery.
Rally for the Rescues-ScoutShe has been handled in foster and knows how to stand tied, lead, and has had her front hooves trimmed. Scout is presently in foster with her mother and has not emotionally weaned but she will be separated from her mother in the coming weeks. She is a beautiful young filly, and should mature to almost 15hh.

Megan is also helping Hilda with Mardi the mule.

Megan Vanbendegon

Megan Vanbendegon

Megan has been fascinated by the equine world since she was 4, when she saw a horse up close for the first time. Since then, Megan has strived to find out everything possible about these wonderful animals through what little resources a kid could get her hands on. Horse books, movies, and paraphernalia crowded her room, and the preoccupation with the equine world stayed with her through her childhood. Megan was lucky enough to find Hilda J. Keller when she moved to Tennessee at age 11 or so. Megan VanbendegonUnder Hilda, Megan has learned how to be a respectful and confident leader to a horse, and has been lucky enough to work alongside her for nearly 4 years. During this time, Megan has observed her use of natural horsemanship, and she has been fascinated by the amazing work Hilda does. Megan hopes to use these techniques in order to help her training partner get to new and better life.
