Rally for the Rescues – Trainers Challenge
the 2018 Rally will be:
September 7-9 2018
(We would like to thank Pamela Parton Photography for these wonderful pictures of the 2016 Rally.)
Thank you for the interest in this special challenge! I caught a whiff of a similar challenge via social media and thought the state of Tennessee could sure do the same. Being a trainer myself and a proud owner of several awesome rescue horses, this contest was developed to help up and coming trainers gain some publicity but most importantly give a bunch of horses a chance at a good life. ~Hilda Keller
Ferrell Hollow Farm Senior Horse Sanctuary is proud to present this first of its kind competition in Tennessee-matching TN rescue horses with natural horsemanship trainers who will foster and train the horses for 110 days and then compete at Rally for the Rescues event. The contest will be judged by a panel of three equine professionals. Each horse/trainer team will compete in four classes and their scored based on:
- Appearance and fitness
- Arena style trail obstacles
Rally for the Rescues main focus and goal is the HORSE. We want to show the public how talented and versatile rescue horses can be and produce horses who are ready to work for their adopters. It will also give support to the TN rescues that provide the rescue horses. It’s a win-win for the horses and the rescue organizations that advocate for the welfare of our state’s equines. Mark your calendars for the entire weekend as it is sure to be a fun and educational weekend with nothing better than horses and true Horseman. Please check back for more details. *Ferrell Hollow Farm Senior Horse Sanctuary is 501c3 organization whose mission is to advocate and care for special needs senior horses in need of sanctuary setting , that are not afforded adequate care and would be considered at risk of neglect or abuse, if left in their current situation.*
A few words from the Founders
of Rally for the Rescues- Trainers Challenge
The fact that I am even writing this cause my heart and soul to swell with immense gratitude. To say that I am humbled is an understatement.
One day, last June to be exact, I had an idea. Just a little old idea. That was it. No
plan, just a whimsical idea. And a friend, my co founder, Dawn Roberts said “go for
it and I’ll help”. And so it began – the planning, the brainstorming, the research, the
doubt, the aggravation, the weekly meetings and finally, the reward!
We are all here because of our supporters, folks like you who believed in my idea.
We did it! It’s really happening! And I thank each and every one of you.
Without the rescues, the horses, the trainers, sponsors, supporters, volunteers,
friends and family, this event would not be possible.
I thank you all from the bottom of my heart and twelve sets of hooves! See you next
Wow what a journey these past months have been and so very inspiring that just
thinking about it brings great joy and gratitude to my heart.
I am extremely humbled by the amount of support and care shown for each of
these once broken souls received from the rescues, trainers, sponsors, judges,
photographers, supporters, volunteers, friends, family and MOST importantly the
adopters. YOU all made it possible. And thank you for standing by us and supporting
us as bumps and struggles came into play. But lessons learned always make
you better and stronger.
My experience is seeing the broken come in with finally some hope but I always
knew that until there was a happy ending, the cycle was not complete and always
wondered how much more I could do to help make the cycle complete.
I am honored beyond words that Hilda trusted me enough to be a part of making
that possible. I live every day saying “Save one life at a time” but it brings my
heart so much joy to know that today 12 lives have been changed forever. THANK
YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Happy trails and loving homes to our amazing
horses!!! Can’t wait for next year!!!
